3. Lord Lansdowne desires me to ask that if

Mr.Chamberlain sees no objection, the Governor may

accordingly be requested to arrange for the construction

of the road by the Colonial Government under the condi-

tions proposed by the 'General Officer Commanding and

suggested by the Colonial Defence Committee, and for the

War Department Rights over the tops of Mounts Cameron

and Nicholson being made over to the Colonial Government.
